Wiretapping Raises Fears
ALBERTA --
The Edmonton police force's use of wiretaps in an investigation
has raised fears about protection of privacy
and how far police should go to find the source of an internal leak.
Three Edmonton journalists received letters from the
Alberta Justice Department in the last week saying they had been
"the object of an interception of private communications".
Last February, all three reported on a leaked police report
into alleged criminal activities of a city police commission member in 1994.
