The B.C. government has spent $100,000 on a system to block civil servants from using their office computers to browse X-rated Internet sites.
The move came after government workers in Victoria were caught downloading pornography from the Internet onto their work computers. One bureaucrat was fired and another was demoted.
About 15,000 B.C. civil servants who have access to the Internet at work have to sign a form now agreeing to stay away from inappropriate Internet sites.
There are probably fewer than 100 employees who abused their privileges, but it was enough to install a new filter.
