Paul Robert Cohen v. California
In 1971, the United States Supreme Court
reversed the conviction of a man who
allegedly disturbed the peace by wearing a jacket that bore the words,
"Fuck the draft", while walking through a courthouse corridor.
The Court rejected the notion that the state can prohibit speech
just because it is "offensive".
